Russell Wilson Crushes His Doubters

In most good stories, ancient or modern, there’s a moment when the hero doubts himself and his mission. That’s where Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson scrambles away from convention. His self-confidence doesn’t waver. “I came into camp thinking that I was going to be the starter,” he says of his rookie season with the Seahawks. “And I made sure I got ready.”

Dave Boling, a columnist with Tacoma’s News Tribune, recalls how well prepared Wilson was from the beginning at the offseason minicamp for rookies. Boling estimates that the kid from Wisconsin ran about 500 plays but made only one mistake that required coaches to step in and reset the offense. “Who does that?” Boling says. “Nobody.”
