Cory Schlesinger turned in his cleats a long time ago, but he’s never strayed too far from the Detroit Lions.
Literally.
Schlesinger, who retired from the NFL in 2006 after molding himself into the greatest fullback in Lions history, now works as a teacher at Allen Park High School. The school is located just five miles from Lions headquarters.
“Not knowing I’d play 12 years in the NFL, I always had a backup plan,” Schlesinger said Wednesday night after a charity basketball game at Corunna High School. “I was ready to do it at any time.”
